Serenity trilogy
Serenity Trilogy – A Sonic Exploration of Mindfulness and White Noise
Serenity Trilogy was born from a musical work I originally created for a mindfulness session.
From the very first moment I composed the background music for that project, my ethnomusicological perspective led me to explore the possibility of creating a musical trilogy—a work with three movements, each inspired by different elements yet connected by an immersive white noise backdrop interwoven with diverse natural sounds.
The trilogy existed in my mind, but the way music is released today often favors individual tracks over albums. However, I wanted an album, not just isolated songs. So I reached a compromise—I would release the songs individually, but at the end of the process, I would have a complete trilogy in the form of an album.
Completing all three tracks took two years, not only because of the composition process but also due to the meticulous work required to create the white noise layers that form the foundation of each piece.
Each track represents a different experience:
-
Walking in the Forest – The first track recreates the experience of walking through a forest. I built an ambient soundscape with birds singing, footsteps on fallen leaves, and the wind rustling through trees, maintaining a continuous background that immerses the listener in this natural setting. The composition follows the simple act of wandering through a forest, letting its sounds envelop you.
-
Amrita – This track is inspired by water, and its name references an Indian water deity. However, the perspective here is much broader—water as the essence of life. That is why, halfway through the track, you begin to hear the sound of a heartbeat—a metaphor for how life begins in a liquid environment, in a world where 80% of our bodies are water. The entire composition revolves around this theme. In the background, you can hear ocean waves recorded at Praia da Princesa in Cascais, Portugal, the sound of rain captured on various rainy days across different cities worldwide, and even subtle train noises—the rhythmic hum of a metro train moving along its tracks, forming the foundation upon which the music grows.
-
Welcome Back – The final track represents the feeling of returning to yourself—that moment when you reconnect with a part of yourself that you hadn’t encountered in a long time. The composition is rich in layered sounds and was created in São Pedro de Alcântara, while I sat by a waterfall, listening to how its sound shifted at different points. At the top of the waterfall, the sound was still gentle. In the middle, it changed in tone and intensity. And when the water crashed onto the rocks below, the sound became deep and thunderous. All these sonic textures are present in the track, along with the bucolic, rural sounds of this small town near Florianópolis, Brazil.

The trilogy evokes a sense of calmness and serenity. I have always loved the word serenity because of its holistic essence—it exists in so many moments of life when we need to be connected to it.
It was a profound realization to create this album, to shape these emotions into music. And the way this work resonates with you is deeply personal. I only hope that listening to it brings you the same serenity it has given me.
